Gynaecology
SOS Gynaecology is a medical service that deals with general health care of young and mature women, with a focus on their physiology and prevention of associated disorders.
This medical specialty uses routine consultations and a variety of tests performed regularly, according to age and risk factors. You should have a routine gynaecological consultation at least once a year in order to detect possible disorders. However, if you have problems at any time, you must contact your Gynaecologist immediately. Do not wait until your next checkup.
Women need to address a Gynaecologist starting with the appearance of the first puberty signs. The SOS Gynaecologist can identify the cause of the problems that usually appear among teenagers, prescribe and monitor the most appropriate hormonal treatment.
Young women between 19 and 24 years old need counselling in order to prevent sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or to avoid unwanted pregnancies and treatment in case infections are detected. For mature women, we have programmes for early detection of benign or malignant degenerative diseases, arrangements being necessary for various laboratory tests.
Obstetrics is a medical specialty closely related to Gynaecology that focuses on childbirth, providing prenatal care and pregnancy support along with post natal care. For pregnant women, we follow the pregnancy normal development through ultrasound, obstetric consultations and periodical analysis. We prepare birth in the best conditions in partner Hospitals, chosen by the mother together with the SOS Gynaecologist.
After birth, the mother and child are taken over by the SOS Paediatric Department, which is led by Prof. Dr. Ioan Gherghina. Our specialists will follow the child’s normal development and will advise young parents what to do in situations where minor diseases may appear, helping them enjoy a healthy baby. They are also conducting training programmes, such as training for both parents before conception and medical advice given by the SOS Paediatricians and Family Doctors, all coordinated by the SOS Gynaecologist.
The Gynaecologist can also investigate the reasons why a woman is unable to become pregnant. In this case, steps will be taken in order to correct or, if it is possible, to bypass the problem so the woman can bear children.
Another difficult process in which many women need special attention and advice from the Gynaecologist is menopause. To overcome the inconveniences related to this phase, only a Gynaecologist can determine the appropriate treatment for each woman, depending on the outcome of several tests.
SOS members can schedule an appointment for a Gynaecology consultation by calling anytime at 021/212 13 43.
